約翰·愛德華·詹姆士（英語：John Edward James，1981年6月8日—）為美國商人及共和黨籍政治人物，自2023年起在密西根州第十國會選區擔任聯邦眾議員。[3][4]在此之前，詹姆士於2018年和2020年兩次受共和黨提名參選密西根州聯邦參議員，但分別輸給尋求連任的民主黨議員黛比·史戴比拿以及加里·彼得斯。[5]

在輸掉2020年選舉後，詹姆士起初拒絕認輸，這一舉動引發了人們對選舉公平性的擔憂。[6][7][8][9]不過在選舉三周後的11月24日，詹姆士承認了這一選舉結果。[9]2022年，詹姆士在密西根州重新劃定的第十國會選區參選聯邦眾議員，這是他四年來第三次參選國會議員。在此次選舉中，詹姆士以微弱的優勢擊敗了民主黨候選人卡爾·穆林加。

早年生活與教育[編輯]

約翰·詹姆士於1981年出生在密西根州紹斯菲爾德，後於底特律帕爾默伍茲社區的一個浸信會家庭中長大。[10][11]他於1999年畢業於天主教萊斯兄弟高中[12]，後於2004年畢業於西點軍校。[12][13]之後詹姆士在美國陸軍服役長達八年之久，在此期間他作為AH-64阿帕奇直升機駕駛員在伊拉克戰爭期間參與了多項軍事任務。[14][15]同為國會眾議員的韋斯利·杭特與帕特·瑞恩都是他在西點軍校就讀時的同學。[16]之後詹姆士進入了遊騎兵學校學習，並成功獲得了遊騎兵臂章。

2017年9月，詹姆士決定參選2018年密西根州聯邦參議員選舉共和黨初選。[22]在此次選舉中，他將挑戰已經在任三屆的民主黨籍參議員黛比·史戴比拿，並爭取成為密西根州首位非裔聯邦參議員。雖然密西根州音樂家搖滾小子也有參選的意圖，但最終沒有參選。因此在初選中，詹姆士需要面對的對手只有格羅斯波因特商人及前韋恩縣專員桑迪·潘斯勒。[23]在初選前的2018年7月27日，詹姆士通過推特獲得了川普總統的背書。[24]雖然詹姆士在初選中以55%的得票率獲得了共和黨提名[25]，但在11月6日的決選中以45.8%對52.3%的得票率被史戴比拿擊敗。[26]

潛在的駐聯合國大使人選[編輯]

根據彭博社2018年11月下旬的報導，川普正考慮提名詹姆士擔任美國駐聯合國大使，以接替計劃在同年年底辭職的妮基·黑莉。根據彭博社的說法，川普總統與邁克·彭斯副總統以及國務卿麥克·龐培歐曾在白宮接見詹姆士。[27]但實際上川普並未任命詹姆士擔任這一職務，而是宣布任命美國國務院發言人希瑟·諾爾特擔任此職。[28]但諾爾特最終並未獲得提名，並於2019年2月宣布不再考慮這一職務。[29]

諾爾特退出後，川普再度考慮過任命詹姆士擔任駐聯合國大使[30]，但最終決定提名美國駐加拿大大使凱莉·克拉夫特擔任駐聯合國大使。[31]

2020年聯邦參議員選舉[編輯]

由於詹姆士在2018年的選舉結果明顯優於預期，因此他在2020年密西根州聯邦參議員選舉共和黨提名中處於優勢地位。在這次選舉中，他需要挑戰的對手是該州另一位民主黨籍聯邦參議員加里·彼得斯。[32][33]而在2019年6月，全國共和黨國會委員會打算讓詹姆士在2020年參選密西根州第十一國會選區的聯邦眾議員席位，以挑戰新任民主黨人黑利·史蒂文斯。[34]

詹姆士於2019年6月6日正式宣布自己在尋求共和黨提名，以挑戰加里·彼得斯。[35]在此次選舉中，密西根州和阿拉巴馬州是僅有的兩個於2016年被共和黨贏得但當前由民主黨聯邦參議員尋求連任的州。[36]儘管美聯社在11月4日就宣布彼得斯勝選[5]，但詹姆士拒絕承認這一結果，為此彼得斯怒斥其行為「可悲」。[6]起初詹姆士一直堅持選舉過程存在不公平之處[37]，並與共和黨法律委員會組建了一個法律基金會以求推翻此次選舉結果。[7]此外詹姆士宣稱自己已掌握充足的證據以供調查，但始終未向外界提供。[8]他甚至還在選舉後籌集了200萬美元資金以用於推翻此次選舉結果，但最終還是以92,335票的劣勢被認定為敗選。[38]詹姆士最終於11月24日通過社交媒體承認敗選，並向彼得斯表示了祝賀。[9]

2022年聯邦眾議員選舉[編輯]

約翰·詹姆士決定在2022年於密西根州第十國會選區參選聯邦眾議員。他先是在共和黨初選中勝出[40]，而後在決選中以微弱的優勢擊敗了民主黨候選人卡爾·穆林加。[41]

政治立場[編輯]

早在2018年競選時，詹姆士的政治立場便是典型的共和黨人之立場。他在競選網站中稱自己是「反墮胎、支持第二修正案且親商的保守派」。[42]他希望取消對美國計劃生育聯合會的資助[42]，並將羅訴韋德案與種族滅絕相提並論。[43]不過他反對死刑，亦反對雇主應因性取向解僱雇員，並反對將娛樂用大麻合法化。[44]

詹姆士反對歐巴馬總統提出的平價醫療法案，稱之為「怪胎」，並希望能提出新法案以取代之。[45]根據《底特律自由報》的報導，詹姆士未對川普政府就平價醫療法案提起違憲訴訟一事表達過立場。[46]在2020年9月的一次採訪中，詹姆士反對在沒有替代方案的情況下貿然廢除平價醫療法案，但亦未對共和黨人起訴平價醫療法案一事做出任何批評。[47]

詹姆士最初在2016年共和黨總統初選中支持泰德·克魯茲[44]，不過後來又成為了川普的支持者。[44]他在2018年時還發推稱，如果自己能當選聯邦參議員，他將「2000%的支持川普」。[48][49]而在2020年選舉期間，詹姆士接受了川普的背書並與之一同參選。[50][51]詹姆士從未公開批評川普本人及其言行。[46]在與黑人信仰領袖會面期間，詹姆士曾被問及是否有和川普意見相左之處。詹姆士回應說，「從削減五大湖地區的資助到『糞坑國家』再到說死者的壞話。我的意思是，你想讓我從哪裡開始講起？」[52]當詹姆士被問及為何不公開批評川普時，他回答說「保持沉默是最好的選擇。川普並非不需要非裔選民的支持，恰恰相反，他需要更多。他想要做的是實現全民的公平及平等，而非僅僅是在推特上譴責民眾。」[53]競選期間，民主黨人試圖將詹姆士與川普建立聯繫，而詹姆士則表示自己參選的目的並非是為川普舉辦公投。[42]

在2020年競選期間，詹姆士拒絕就個別議題表達自己的立場。其中包括如何確保社會保障信託基金免受工資稅削減的影響、參議院是否應該在2020年總統選舉前對金斯堡之死造成的空位進行提名補缺，以及是否需要將那些用聯盟軍將領命名的軍事基地進行更名。[46][54][55]

個人生活[編輯]

詹姆士於2012年與妻子伊莉莎白結婚[56]，兩人共育有三個兒子。[57]當初詹姆士和伊莉莎白約會時，他在底特律郊區的一家購物中心遇到了警察，並向他開了槍。詹姆士認為，如果當時伊莉莎白沒有在他身邊，他可能已經被射殺了。他對此至今仍心有餘悸，因此每當警察攔車檢查時，詹姆士都會非常緊張。[58]

儘管詹姆士成長在浸信宗家庭，但他本人為非宗派基督徒。[10]
