保羅·斯卡利傑（Paul Skalich，1534年—1573年）是一位出生在薩格勒布（現今克羅埃西亞）的百科全書作家、文藝復興人文主義者和冒險家，他生前曾經居住在神聖羅馬帝國（今德國境內）。
生平[編輯]
保羅·斯卡利傑在維也納學習神學和哲學，後來前往博洛尼亞、羅馬、波希米亞、波蘭、法國和德國等地居住。 [2]
他的著作百科全書，或神與世俗學科知識（Encyclopaedia seu orbis disciplinarum tam sacrarum quam prophanarum epistemon，1559年出版於巴塞爾，1571年在科隆重新出版）是最早以百科全書作為書名的書籍之一。 [1]羅伯特·科里森（Robert Collison）表示這本書其實寫得不怎麼樣，只是該書的書名比較有意義。不過約阿希姆·斯特克·范·林格伯格（Joachim Sterck van Ringelbergh）早在1541年就將他自己的一部著作稱之為「百科全書」。 [3]
保羅·斯卡利傑還寫過一篇關於音樂的論文： Dialogus de Lyra （科隆，1570 年）。 [4]
國籍[編輯]
關於斯卡利奇的國籍，歷來有所爭議。薩格勒布大學的M. Girardi-Karšulin 聲稱他是克羅埃西亞人， [5]歷史學家 Joseph F. Patrouch 和 Stephen L. Waile [6] [7][8] [9]也認為如此。然而Encarta認為保羅·斯卡利傑是德國人。[10]
