The Conversation是一個非營利性媒體（英語：Non-profit journalism）、在線新聞發佈和研究報告（英語：Research report）網站。^[1]^[2]該網站上的很多文章出自學者和研究人員，而且這些文章免費（共享創意），轉載者分享文章時可以無需修改。^[3]^[2]^[4]^[5]^[6]除特殊情況外，該網站只發表可認證的正規學術機構學者的文章。^[7] ^:8

該網站於2011年3月在澳大利亞推出。^[8]^[9]此後全球其他地方也有人開始使用該網站，並且該網站還針對不同地區推出本地化版本。 ^[10]^[11]

每個地區的The Conversation都是一個獨立的非營利組織或慈善組織，其資金來源包括合作的大學和大學系統（英語：University system）、政府和其他捐款機構、企業合作夥伴以及讀者捐款等 ^[12]^[13]^[14]。
